![]() Burton Joseph is the Senior Partner of Joseph, Lichtenstein & Levinson. He has practiced law in Chicago since receiving his law degree from DePaul University, College of Law in 1952, concentrating in litigation. Burt has litigated cases in all courts in the Chicago area and is admitted to practice and has appeared as counsel in the following courts:
Burt was an adjunct Professor of Law at IIT/Chicago Kent College of Law for ten years and has lectured and written extensively on legal matters. He serves on numerous boards, including Trustee of the Freedom to Read Foundation of the American Library Association, from which he was awarded inclusion on the Roll of Honor in 2008. Burt was a founder of Lawyers for the Creative Arts, President of the Lower North Center, founding counsel of the International Academy of Sex Research, and is active in numerous other legal and community organizations. Burt is the co-author of Summary of the Law of Illinois, a publication of the Media Law Resource Center (MLRC), and was co-editor and publisher of Law and Disorder, (1968), and has been a contributing author to other national publications. Burt is peer-rated AV by Martindale-Hubble and has been for many years, is rated by Merrill’s Illinois Legal Times as one of the Best Lawyers in America, is designated as a Leading Illinois Attorney by the American Research Corporation on the basis of peer selection, and has earned Super Lawyer designation by the publication “Law and Politics.” Professional Memberships:
